When should I photograph my newborn baby? Why timing matters so much.

Newborn baby’s grow fast: The clock is ticking

One of the most exciting and relieving moments is bringing your newborn baby home. Life is now just a little bit more crazy (pun intended). So setting up a newborn session let alone the timing of one, might not be on the top of your list. Here’s what you need to know regarding the 1st two months and recommendations based on what you have going on.

Making the process a little bit more manageable is having a Westchester Photographer located in New Rochelle New York who can travel to your home or accommodate you in their downtown New Rochelle spacious photo studio.

5-15 days is that sweet spot

You remember when you were researching newborn photo shoots, or when you saw those beautiful curled up photos of your best friends baby? Well those likely happened within this window. WHY? In the first 5-14 days your baby still curls naturally, almost as if he/she is still in the womb. As your newborn baby grows, muscles stretch and stiffen making these poses much more challenging. Sleep, Sleep, Sleep please… This will be part of the underlining theme for the session lol. Regardless whether they sleep or not we’ll get those stunning shots, but newborns are professional sleepers during this epic and it will make it just that more simpler to get those iconic shots you are looking for.

Can I still get cute shots after 2 weeks? Umm YES!

YES. Believe it or not we can do up to 2 months. What does this mean for the style of the photos? On the front end we are still getting sleepy shots with cute positions. On the back end of the 2 months you’ll be getting more awake shots and the baby being bundled up as they are now wailing those hands all over the place. We will still be able to achieve some sleepy shots just not as much as the 1st 2 weeks.

Thats why its important to hire a professional newborn photographer with the experience to understand the nuances of the different stages of a newborn baby.

Sit back and let the professionals take it from here

Newborn baby’s run the show and for this reason it’s important to have full control of the newborn session. This is why you want to seek out a Westchester photographer with extensive experience (over 15 years) who has all the equipment and tools that lends its self to creativity.

All we need from you is milk and diapers. We provide all the props and clothing for all the seasons and occasions. If you have a specific theme or want to include some personal touches, just run it by us. We’ve got everything so handled you might find your self dozing off in the studio. Probably the most relaxed you’ve been in months 😁.

As New Rochelle professional photographers we understand how challenging a newborn session can see.

What to expect when you arrive in the Photo Studio.

Its simple….We are over prepared. We arrive 2 hours early to the studio to set up the custom sets, so that way when you arrive we can start prepping the baby. The moment that baby is down we are already laying the newborn baby into position. You’ll hear the soothing sounds of rain and thunder (our preferred type of white noise), this will keep the baby as sleepy as possible. It might even work on you lol. You and/or your partner are free to step out at any moment, get some food and eat it right in the photo studio. If the newborn has a rambunctious sibling you are free to have them come later on the back end of the session when we will do the sibling shots (we can help coordinate this). regardless siblings are welcomed. We have a toy chest filled with enough to keep them busy.

Mom, from you we’ll need that milk and those diapers. Feel free to capture behind the scenes videos and photos if you’d like. Also feel free to bring grandma!

In conclusion

Professional Newborn Photography is a must if you want to capture this fleeting most beautiful stage of your newborn baby’s life. Life moves fast and can get crazy. You’ll look back at these photos, at these moments with tears when that baby has grown into a mini human (ha).
